In observance of International Mangrove Day 2020, DENR Region IV-A CALABARZON and PENRO Cavite conducted a coastal clean-up and mangrove planting activities in Brgy. San Rafael IV, Noveleta, Cavite.

The event was participated by 30 volunteers from LGU Noveleta, Forest Foundation Philippines represented by For. Eric Buduan, Noveleta Mangrove Farmers Association, PENRO Cavite represented by Chief TSD Reynaldo A. Belen and DENR CALABARZON Office represented by ARD for Technical Services Alfredo Palencia.

A total of 100 propagules of Rhizophora sp were planted during the planting activity. Furthermore, approximately 27 kgs of nonbiodegradable wastes were collected during the clean-up.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources IV-A thru the Manila Bay Site Coordinating Management Office 4 (MBSCMO4) provided compost tumblers to selected barangays in Bacoor, Cavite. These barangays were the ones who participated in the department’s Information, Education, and Communication campaigns such as Brgys. Queens Row Central, Queens Row West, and Queens Row East.

On July 23rd, the distribution of 10 units of two-layered compost tumblers for each vicinity was facilitated by For. Jefferson Cruz and For. Queen Borero with the respective barangay officials and representatives from the Philippine National Police.

Compost tumblers are fully-sealed containers which can be rotated to mix the composting materials. It can be used by communities for the process of turning their biodegradable wastes into compost. Through usage of these tumblers, communities will be encouraged to segregate their wastes and convert their biodegradable wastes into compost that can be used in their gardens.

In support of the Daluynungan activities conducted and to start-up composting, the DENR IV-A thru the Manila Bay Site Management Coordinating Office 4 (MBSCMO4) provided compost tumblers to the selected barangays in Tanauan, Batangas specifically Brgy. Poblacion III and Poblacion VI. Each barangay received 9 units of two-layered compost tumblers today witnessed by the barangay officials, representative from PNP, For. Jefferson Cruz and For. Queen Borero of MBSCMO4.
