CENRO Real personnel attended the meeting on “Stakeholders Participation in Rehabilitation, Conservation, Protection and Enhancement of Mangrove areas and Public Open Spaces and to Establish Stakeholders Commitment to this Program and Project”.

The meeting was attended by the Municipal Administrator Cristina Bosque representing the Municipal Mayor, MENRO Danilo Almacen, all the Department Heads of LGU Polillo and the academe represented by Southern Luzon State University Polillo Campus, Polillo National High School and Mount Carmel School of Polillo and the DENR CENRO Real and Polillo sub-Station represented by Forester II Lyra Michaela Rivera and EMS I Azor Bonita.

During the meeting, the facilitator, Mr. Hannibal Diasanta of MENRO Polillo presented the plan of activities of the LGU in the rehabilitation, conservation, protection and enhancement of mangrove areas and public open space which include public park and green spaces.

Mr. Disanta discussed that the activities will be tree planting activities with Memorandum of Agreement/ Understanding among the stakeholders who will sign the agreement in nurturing and growing the planted trees in selected areas like roadside, plaza, public parks and public open space as well as mangrove areas. The mangrove area being tapped was in Brgy. Poblacion which will be established as Polillo Mangrove Eco-Park. Mr. Diasanta continued his presentation which tackled the topics on site identification, site assessment and validation, criteria setting, legislative and management system installation. The participants in the meeting will be the stakeholders in the activity and this meeting’s purpose is to get stakeholders commitment and support for this advocacy.

Forester Lyra Michaela Rivera explained that all mangroves in the Polillo Group of Islands are covered by the Presidential Proclamation No. 2152, hence, it was mandated to be included in the targeted Protected Area Suitability Assessment (PASA) for CY 2024. However Forester Rivera and Polillo sub-Station OIC Azor Bonita supported the advocacy of the LGU of Polillo.
