In celebration of the National Environmental Awareness Month, a total of 200 mangroves (Rhizopora spp.) were planted during the tree planting activity spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office Calaca (DENR-CENRO Calaca) in partnership with the Philippine National Construction Corporation, People’s Organization Coastal Green Cruzades and MENRO Lemery on November 9, 2023 in Brgy. Mataas na Bayan, Lemery, Batangas.

Forester Juvy H. Reytiran- FT-II/ Designated Information Officer provided an IEC lecture in connection to the said event. She highlighted that National Environmental Awareness Month aims to promote consciousness and appreciation towards our nature. She emphasized that appreciation and valuing nature can be done daily and environmental actions should start on each individuality such as being aware of the environmental laws, proper solid waste management practices and the importance of participating in every environmental activity in the community and organizations.

During the said activity, they were able to plant 200 seedlings of Bakauan babae (Rhizophora mucronata) within the graduated NGP mangrove plantation established in 2016.
