One Reticulated Python voluntarily surrendered to CENRO Catanauan

One reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) was voluntarily surrendered to CENRO Catanauan, Quezon.

Said wildlife was found within the school premises of Matandang Sabang Silangan National High School located in Brgy. Matandang Sabang Silangan, Catanauan, Quezon and was immediately reported to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO).

The MENRO team and CENRO Catanauan personnel brought the python to the Municipal Agriculturist of Catanauan, Quezon for proper health examination. It was found out that the said wildlife weighed 1 km with a length of 160 cm and diameter of 13.5 cm. The Municipal Agriculture Office subsequently issued a Certification on the same day stating that the wildlife is healthy and fit for release to its original habitat.

On October 19, 2023, the Monitoring and Enforcement Section (MES) personnel proceeded to Buenavista Protected Landscape (BPL), Brgy. Buenavista, Mulanay, Quezon to release the said python.

CENRO Catanauan continues to remind the public that illegal possession, killing, hunting, and other illegal activities concerning wildlife are punishable under RA 9147 or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act.
