ANTIPOLO CITY, RIZAL - The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON in partnership with the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Rizal conducted the 4th Quarter Regional Multi-sectoral Forest Protection Committee (RMFPC) meeting at the Rizal Provincial Capitol, Antipolo City, Rizal. RMFPC members from the government sector and private institutions in the region participated in the said meeting. The meeting aims to discuss various initiatives and efforts that will help improve forest protection and conservation in the region. 

In the meeting, three (3) draft resolutions were discussed. One of these is for the LGUs to require wood-based industry businesses to secure certification of their wood sources from DENR, and the other two(2) are, a.) encouraging the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) IV-A and LGUs to re-adapt and re-enforce Coconut Bio-Engineering Technology in its public infrastructure projects, and b.)  Allocation of Funds for the Forest and Environmental Protection effort by the private companies within CALABARZON as part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities(CSR).

Later in the meeting, with respect to the retirement of the current RMFPC Chairperson Mr. Manuel A. Beloso election was conducted to determine the new set of officers of the committee. As a result of the election, the new officers of the committee are as follows: OPENRO Cavite - Chairperson, DENR IV-A -Co-Chairperson, DPWH IV-A -Treasurer, and Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems (MCME) - UPLB - Auditor.  It was followed by the official turnover to the new Chairperson and a Commendation to the outgoing Chairperson Mr. Beloso was conducted.###
