STO. TOMAS CITY, BATANGAS - The Department of Environment And Natural Resources (DENR) Region IV-A (CALABARZON) with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sto. Tomas City, Batangas, and the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystem created a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the adoption of their Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP) for the LGU of Sto. Tomas City, which will be incorporated into its Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) as part of the LGU of Sto. Tomas City's efforts in preserving and conserving the forestlands within their jurisdiction.

Further, the said activity was attended by some key officials from the DENR CALABARZON,PENRO Batangas, CENRO Lipa City and LGU Sto. Tomas City, Batangas. During the commencement of the MOA signing the City Mayor of Sto. Tomas, Batangas, Hon. Arth Jhun A. Marasigan gave his message where he said “Ang Forest Land Use Plan ay isang instrumento o  tool para di lang maprotektahan ang kalikasan pero higit sa lahat ang kalikasan kasi ay isang resources din natin.. kailangan din natin ito gamitin pero sa tamang pamamaraan”.. Then followed by, the keynote message from DENR CALABARZON Regional Executive Director and he said “Ang Comprehensive Land Use Plan po ay di mabubuo kung wala ang Forest Land Use Plan, at hindi po magkakaroon ng kaulanran ang isang lungsod kung hindi po natin mababalangkas ang Comprehensive Land Use Plan at  bahagi ng Forest Land Use Plan. Ang pagbabalangkas ay isa lamang at ang mas hamon ay ang implementasyon”.

The MOA is an instrument forged between the DENR and LGU of Sto. Tomas City towards implementation of their FLUP and their efforts to improve the protection, conservation, and management of the forest and natural resources. ###
