PENRO Quezon and CENRO Tayabas spearheaded the 4th Camp Hike Plant and the 2024 Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Planning for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Calabarzon.

The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Chief, Technical Services Division (TSD) of PENRO Quezon, For. Julieta P. Narte, followed by an insightful overview of the activities presented by Judaline A. Fabro, the Chief, Regional Strategic Communication and Initiatives Group (RSCIG). The keynote speaker, DENR CALABARZON Regional Executive Director Nilo B. Tamoria, set the tone for the event with an encouraging speech.

The IEC Planning session, a pivotal component of the event, featured Communications Development Officer I Dionelyn E. ServaƱez presenting the comprehensive 2024 Work and Financial Plan. She also led a dynamic IEC Action Planning Writeshop, engaging all participants from across Calabarzon.

As part of the vibrant program, Communications Development Officer II Czarina Maria G. Escandor organized a captivating spoken poetry contest. The competition, which drew enthusiastic participation, hailed an SK representative from Rizal as the winner. Adding a creative touch to the proceedings, the SINAGTALA performers comprising youth from Quezon National High School in Lucena City, delivered a powerful environmental awareness message through a thought-provoking drama.

PASu Josephine Barrion of Mts. Banahaw-San Cristobal Protected Landscape (MBSCPL) graced the event. Her presence added significant insights to the discussions.

During the three-day duration, attendees were treated to a series of enriching lectures. DENR Calabarzon's Regional Youth Desk Officer, Martha Bernadette Gealon-Abdul, delivered a compelling talk on climate change. Mr. Magtanggol Barrion, APASu of MBSCPL, provided an informative lecture on the significance of the protected area. PENRO Quezon's Coastal and Marine Ecosystem Management Program (CMEMP) Focal, Ms. Melinda G. Gordo, shared insights on biodiversity conservation. Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (LDRRMO) of Dolores, April Joy Cruz, delved into the critical topic of disaster risk reduction.

Throughout the event, participants engaged in reflection, sharing sessions, and values formation facilitated by RSCIG Chief Judaline Fabro. The event was not merely about discussions and contests, it also featured an exciting Amazing Race facilitated by PENRO Quezon and CENRO Tayabas, promoting teamwork and environmental awareness among the participants.

Rain or shine, the event concluded on a green note as participants united to plant a total of 200 seedlings, 100 Narra and 100 Molave, within MBSCPL. This symbolic act underscored the commitment of all involved towards environmental sustainability and conservation.

This collaborative initiative not only fostered knowledge exchange but also served as a platform for networking and community building, reinforcing the commitment of DENR Calabarzon towards environmental education and sustainable practices.
