The DENR CENRO Calaca awarded seven special patents to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Laurel, Batangas on October 17, 2023.

During the turn-over ceremony, OIC-CENR Officer Isagani Amatorio, along with Supervising Environment Management Specialist Agnes Sune, Regulation and Permitting Section Chief Rosalia Balicanta, and Conservation and Development Section Chief Elizabeth C. Galit personally handed the special patents to LGU-Laurel represented by Municipal Administrator Bienvenido Mayuga on behalf of Hon. Mayor Lyndon Masicat Bruce, and Municipal Assessor Aris De Sagun as the witness.

The said special patents are for the parcels of land covering the LGU’s municipal cemetery, archive library, materials recovery facility, and evacuation site. The titles increase the capacity of the LGU-Laurel to respond to the needs of its constituents as the same legitimizes its ownership over the strategic parcels of land areas in the municipality.

Special patents are issued by the DENR to cede, grant, and convey full ownership of alienable and disposable lands of the government to applying Filipino citizens of legal age, or any government corporation, province, municipality, or other branches/subdivisions of the government through an act of congress, promulgation of a special law, or a presidential proclamation authorizing the DENR secretary to issue such patent.###
