The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON headed by its Regional Executive Director Nilo Tamoria, and the Municipal Local Government Unit of Nasugbu, Batangas led by Hon. Mayor Antonio Jose Barcelon, signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the preparation of the Forest Land Use Plan of the municipality on March 20, 2023.

The momentous activity was witnessed by DENR CALABARZON Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Jose Elmer Bascos, Batangas PENRO Officer Noel Recillo, Calaca CENR Officer Isagani Amatorio, and other LGU officials.

Director Tamoria emphasized that everything should start with a plan however, the plan should not remain as it is but must be implemented. He also stressed that the planning process should be participatory and must be based on scientific evidences.

Forest Land Use Planning is a participatory process of allocating forests and forestland as natural resources asset by the government under appropriate management, tenure arrangement and eventually putting these assets according to their best uses in order to harmonize uses of forest lands.

Out of the 43 barangays in Nasugbu, 23 will be covered by the plan for the municipality. 

Pursuant to Forest Management Bureau Technical Bulletin No. 2A dated June 2018, series of activities such as data and map collection, situational analysis, participatory prioritization of sub watershed and allocation of forests and forest lands, actual plan preparation, legitimization, and plan approval will be conducted prior to the actual adoption of the plan by the LGU.###
