The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON inked an agreement with the Bayanihang Makarizal Sinagtala Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (BMSFAC) for the adoption of a 227-hectare graduated National Greening Program (NGP) site in the province of Laguna last February 8, 2023, at the Hortz Hotels and Resorts, Tagaytay City, Cavite.

Meanwhile, DENR CALABARZON Regional Executive Director Nilo B. Tamoria highlighted the gaps of the NGP where private sectors could fill in and provide assistance to ensure sustainability of the program.

Under the campaign “Tayo Ang Kalikasan” the DENR CALABARZON encourages private sector, civil society organizations, people’s organizations, and other sectors to adopt graduated NGP sites. As of October 2022, a total of 130 graduated NGP sites covering more than 17,000 hectares are open for adoption in the CALABARZON Region.

Further, Tamoria commended BMFSAC for their initiative to be part of the NGP. “Nagpapasalamat po tayo sa Bayanihang Makarizal Sinagtala Farmers Agriculture Cooperative na tumugon sa panawagan ng ating kagawaran para makatuwang namin sa pangangalaga ng aming nasimulang programa,” he said.

The Memorandum of Agreement was formally signed by RED Nilo B. Tamoria and BMSFAC President Tane Boy C. Loteyro and witnessed by DENR CALABARZON Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Jose Elmer C. Bascos, Assistant Regional Director for Management Services Ronita A. Unlayao, PENRO Laguna PENR Officer Eriberto Saños, and CENRO Sta. Cruz CENR Officer Venerando Garcia.

The adopted greening site was established under NGP CY 2017 Indigenous Species Plantation at Sitio Pulot, Brgy. Mahipon, Cavinti, Laguna. For interested organizations to partner for NGP, you may coordinate with the nearest DENR Office in your area.
