More than 500,000 seedlings are open for distribution to interested groups and organizations who would like to plant trees come rainy season.
The DENR CALABARZON through its Regional Seedling Production and Training Facility at Brgy. Lamot II, Calauan, Laguna houses more than 300,000 seedlings.
DENR CALABARZON Regional Executive Director Nilo B. Tamoria highlights the role of private sector in the regreening efforts of the Region. “Patuloy po ang ating panawagan na maging prayoridad ng mga private sector, civic organizations, at mga asosasyon na mapaglaanan ng kanilang Corporate Social Responsibility ang pagtatanim. Kayo po ang aming katuwang sa pagpapanumbalik ng mayabog at sustenableng kalikasan.Nawa sa paglaon, higit sa compliance ay maging advocacy natin ito at way of life,” Tamoria said.
Meanwhile, DENR CALABARZON Regional National Greening Program Coordinator Herminigildo C. Jocson encourages private sector and other organizations to request seedlings from the Regional Nurseries. “Seedlings in the nursery start to overgrow because only few are requesting. Aside from seeds from our Seed Production Areas, we are also receiving replacement seedlings from our permittees and now we have indigenous, native, fruit-bearing and other various species available for request”, Jocson emphasized.
