Barangay Magsaysay, Infanta, Quezon – CENRO Real conducted a Biodiversity Monitoring System in the proposed REINA Protected Landscape or the Presidential Proclamation (PP) 1636.

During the said activity, the BMS team observed that the number of Pitcher Plant and Medinilla spp. increased. Also, this 2nd semester CY 2023 Yakal (Shorea astylosa) was identified in Stations 2 to 3 and classified as one of the Critically endangered species based on DAO 2017-11.

The Biodiversity Monitoring System for the proposed REINA Protected Landscape resulted that there were 85 and 43 species of flora and fauna, respectively, observed within the transect route with an increase in population and classified as priority species. On the other hand, there was a decrease in the population of fauna specifically the avian and arthropod species hence, no reptiles and mammals were recorded on the field diary due to rainy seasons.

The regular conduct of the Biodiversity Monitoring System aims to assess the numbers of different species of plants and animals and a specific environment. The distribution of the species as identified through the BMS will serve as a a baseline data for future interventions for the maintenance, conservation, and protection of these species. ###
