DENR CALABARZON Regional Executive Director Nilo B. Tamoria awarded the two (2) Community-Based Forest Management Agreements (CBFMA) to the Samahan ng Magsasaka sa Sitio Umagos (SMSU) Inc., at Samahan ng Magsasaka ng Brgy. Tala at Camflora (SMBTC) Inc. of San Andres, Quezon on July 25, 2023. 

CBFMA is an agreement entered into by and between the government and the local community represented by the People’s Organization (PO) as forest managers which has a term of  25 years. 

As stated in the agreement, the implementation of the agreement shall include the components of forest rehabilitation (including agroforestry), and protection; development of alternative livelihood opportunities not necessarily dependent on forest products; forest products utilization; and other activities that may be identified in the future consistent with Community Resources Management Framework (CRFM) of the area. 

SMSU and SMBTC were represented by their Presidents, Mr. Moises Masangcay, and Mr. Gernio Alamag, respectively. Also present during the activity were the Barangay Chairperson and Councilor of Brgy. Camflora, San Andres, Quezon: Mr. Raul Enclonila and Mr. Mechor Rosco, respectively.

In addition, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services For. Jose Elmer C. Bascos, Community ENR Officer For. Ramil Gutierrez of Catanauan, Licenses Patents, and Deeds Division Chief Engr. Olive Bejo, and selected staff from LPDD and CENRO Catanauan witnessed the event.
