Los Baños, Laguna – In observance and celebration of World Wetlands Day with this year’s theme “It’s Time for Wetland Restoration”, PENRO Laguna led by the Conservation and Development Section (CDS) in collaboration with the local government of Tadlac, Los Baños conducted a tree growing activity along the easement of Tadlac Lake known as Alligator Lake on February 17, 2023. The said activity is intended to increase awareness of the local residents on the values and benefits of Tadlac Lake and emphasize its proper management and protection. Moreover, the said activity is in line with the proposed projects and activities included in formulated Tadlac Lake Management Plan last September 2022.

The activity was participated by personnel from the Los Baños Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Los Baños Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), 564 Engineering Battalion of Camp Sacay-Los Baños, Barangay Officials of Tadlac and volunteers from civic organization based in Tadlac. Three hundred (300) seedlings (fruit trees and indigenous species) were successfully planted.

Likewise, as part of the maintenance of the planted seedlings, the local government and PENRO Laguna shall conduct regular monitoring to achieve a high survival rate.
