For. Dionisio T. Battad, PhD visited the DENR CALABARZON for the Balik Scientist Program (BSP) engagement last September 22, 2022. He was welcomed by For. Jose Elmer C. Bascos, In-Charge, Office of the Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services, and in concurrent capacity as OIC, ARD for Special Concerns; For. Cynthia N. Rozaldo, In-Charge of Planning and Management Division. The team discussed conducting a Geographic Information System (GIS) training for the selected technical personnel of DENR CALABARZON.
 
The Focal Persons of DENR CALABARZON’s One Control Map namely For. Yul Malicsi and For. Marvin M. Anghad, and other technical personnel that are involved in mapping were also present during the meeting. The engagement with Dr. Battad will be beneficial for the agency’s activities in conducting data cleansing of the geospatial data set.
 
According to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), through the BSP, Filipino scientists, technologists, and experts are encouraged to return to the Philippines and share their expertise in order to promote scientific, agro-industrial, and economic development, which includes the development of our human capital in science, technology, and innovation.
 
BSP was institutionalized by former President Rodrigo R. Duterte on June 15, 2018, by a virtue of Republic Act No. 11035 also known as the “Balik Scientist Act”.
