DENR CALABARZON, through the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Cavite, inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Alitaptap Artist Community Incorporated at Amadeo, Cavite for the adoption of a two (2) kilometer stretch of Alitaptap River situated in Brgy. Halang, Amadeo under the Adopt-An-Estero Program.

The MOA signing was participated by representatives from several offices and organizations agencies namely: Ms. Anna Karina Teh, daughter of USEC for Finance, Information System and Climate Change Atty. Analiza Rebuelta-Teh of DENR Central Office, Ms. Emily E. Valenzuela, Barangay Chairperson of Halang, Amadeo; Mr. Henry L. Anacan, President of Alitaptap Artist Community and Forester Januel R. Peras, and Forester Reynaldo A. Belen, OIC PENR Officer and Chief, Technical Services Division of PENRO Cavite, respectively.

Mr. Anacan and Barangay Chairperson Valenzuela both emphasized the importance and the progressive positive impact of the river adoption program, as it uplifts the protection and conservation of Alitaptap River as well as it will directly support the provisioning services that the river can offer such as food, drinking water and plants that can be used for medicinal purposes.

Ms. Anna Karina Teh showed her support on behalf of her mother USEC Analiza Rebuelta-Teh towards this endeavor. In her message, she emphasized that the greatest artwork that gives so much inspiration in every masterpiece is nature, thus the protection and conservation of nature must be prioritized at all costs to continuously inspire and stir people to do good things.

PENRO Peras, on the other hand, reiterated the holistic mandate of DENR that encompasses all concerns in preserving the life support system of the environment, specifically biodiversity. He further added that the protection and conservation of the environment cannot be executed by DENR alone, but it can be possibly done through unity in the pursuit of stabilizing ecological integrity. It clearly shows that DENR needs the support and contribution of stakeholders with a common goal of preserving the environment for the benefit of the future generations.

We encouraged the general public to take actions and be part of the solution contributing to environmental protection and conservation. Our simple ways of helping the environment could have an extensive ripple effect when we do it consistently. ###
