On February 28, 2022, a 35-kilo and 15 feet long reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) was found by construction workers in the ceiling of a house they were repairing in Brgy. Poblacion 10, Batangas City. The python named Barrion was temporarily brought to DENR CENRO Lipa City on February 28, 2022 for provisional care and shelter. The said wildlife was turned-over to the Region IV-A Wildlife Rescue Center in Calauan, Laguna on March 03, 2022 for further provision of proper care and attention.

In support of the campaign against illegal activities involving wildlife, CENRO Lipa strengthened partnerships with the LGUs in terms of law enforcement and in the conservation and protection of the wildlife and their habitat. The Republic Act No. 9147 or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act, provides strict institutional safeguards for Philippine flora and fauna. Anyone who will be found guilty in violation of this act will be penalized accordingly.
