LOOK: PENRO Cavite released an adult female Grass Owl in Mts. Palay-Palay-Mataas-Na-Gulod Protected Landscape on April 20, 2021

PENRO Cavite proceeded to Brgy. Anabu 2-C, Imus, Cavite to rescue the injured adult female Grass Owl as requested by Ms. Wendy Marie Libre on April 16, 2021. According to her, they saw the said wildlife fell on the road of the subdivision, and they noticed that the owl was injured and unable to fly.

The team brought the Grass Owl to Cavite Provincial Veterinary for its immediate medication and improvement.

Four (4) days after, based on the diagnosis of Dr. Gloria C. Digma, the grass owl was free from any infectious or communicable disease, hence recommended for immediate release back to the wild.

On April 20, 2021, the grass owl was released in the grassland area/portion of Mts. Palay-palay Mataas na Gulod Protected Landscape in coordination with the barangay officials of Sapang I, Ternate, Cavite. This nocturnal avian species commonly inhabits in the grassland area and specialist hunters of small animals like rats.

DENR keeps on reminding the public that illegal possession and sale of wildlife is punishable under Republic Act No. 9147 “Wildlife Act of the Philippines”.
