The DENR-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Calaca, Batangas had jam-packed full of activities in celebration of 2024 National Women’s Month (NWM) with the recurring theme “WE for gender equality and inclusive society and 2024 sub-theme “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!”

The month-long celebration of the office kicked off with the observance of “Purple Friday” where employees wore purple shirts on all Fridays of March. The CENRO officials and staff also changed their Facebook profile photos and used the NWM advocacy frame. A Tarpapel on the Women’s Month celebration was also hung and displayed within the office premises. 

All-women cast Lupang Hinirang video was played during the Monday convocations of March to highlight the significant contributions of women throughout Philippine history. A “Serbisyo Para Kay Juana'' activity was also conducted, wherein CENRO Calaca’s Women of the Week were recognized. In addition, the CENRO recognized all its women employees by awarding them with certificates. 

Engineer II Lovelyn R. Asuncion was also recognized for being “Natatanging Juana ng CENRO Calaca” for her achievement as “Outstanding Geodetic Engineer in Government Service '' during the 50th Annual Regional Convention of the Geodetic Engineers Regional IV-A Chapter from March 1-2, 2024 in Tagaytay City.

DENR-CENRO Calaca employees’ gender disaggregation for this year resulted in an equal number of Male (23) and Female (23) and a total of 46 warm bodies including Job Orders. The equal representation of men and women within CENRO Calaca enhances smooth operations as there is equal representation in the workplace.  Hence, a weekly activity entitled “CENRO Calaca Best Male Ally” was done to recognize male employees for supporting their female counterparts in ENR activities. Four male employees were awarded based on the categories and criteria, as follows:  FT II Jayson Boongaling as Supportive Male Ally, FT I Joel D. Gatdula as Good Listener, AO I Dexter Arvin Manalo as Gentleman, and LMO I Jo Evenson Bernas as Socially Dynamic. OIC-CENRO Rommel S. Baybayon was also given a special award of “Best of the Best Male Ally 2024”.

Additionally, 35 pieces of sustainable promotional materials (tote bags with NWM Logo) were distributed to clientele and the recognized CENRO Calaca employees. In culmination, a one-day event was held at the Provincial Nursery in Brgy. Lumbang na Matanda, Calaca, Batangas that included activities such as maintenance of nursery, particularly, weeding, cleaning, and watering of seedlings and eco-garden, and a Zumba dance to promote physical fitness and wellness. 

 

CENRO Calaca continuously supports and participates in the campaigns and activities of the department and the Philippine Commission on Women in relation to the National Women’s Month celebration.
