The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON, through its Planning and Management Division and Regional Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System, strengthened GAD within the organization through the simultaneous conduct of Gender Sensitivity Training (GST), Media and Gender Equality Guidelines (MGEG), GAD monitoring and validation workshop, and Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation Framework (GMEF), from October 16-17, 2023 in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

GST and MGEG was a one-day activity participated in by 45 regular employees, 20 females and 25 males, from the regional, provincial and community offices of the DENR CALABARZON. On the other hand, GAD monitoring and validation workshop and GMEF was a two-day event participated in by 38 employees, 28 females and 10 males, composed of GAD Focal Persons and Planning Officers from the regional office, PENROs, and CENROs.

The said activities mainly aimed to continuously improve the performance of DENR personnel on GAD mainstreaming in ENR programs, projects, and activities.

GST and MGEG provided the participants basic facts and advocacies on GAD, including the crucial role of media in achieving gender equality and women empowerment. On the other hand, GAD monitoring and validation workshop and GMEF intended to reinforce the adoption of gender responsive monitoring, validation, and evaluation of ENR programs and assess the level or extent of the mainstreaming efforts of the regional department.

Department Administrative Order No. 7, Series of 1995 provides the guidelines in the implementation of GAD activities in the DENR.###
