Santo Tomas, Batangas -- Led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON, the Manila Bay Site Coordinating Committee (SCC) composed of the mandamus agencies held its first full face-to-face meeting since the pandemic outbreak, at NDN Grand Hotel, Santo Tomas, Batangas on June 23, 2022.


Meeting presider, DENR Calabarzon Assistant Regional Director for Special Concerns, Jose Elmer C. Bascos said the activity serves as the venue for various national government agencies, local government units, and other partner sectors to discuss the issues and concerns pertaining to the implementation of the Operational Plan for Manila Bay Coastal Strategy (OPMBCS) and the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program, and agree on the corresponding actions to be taken to address the same.

During the meeting, representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government Calabarzon, Department of Public Works and Highways Calabarzon, Laguna AAA Water Corp., Department of Agriculture particularly Bureau of Animal Industry and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Department of Health Calabarzon, Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System/Manila Water Company, Inc., Maynilad, Philippine National Police-Maritime Group Calabarzon, Philippine Coast Guard Calabarzon, and Environmental Management Bureau Calabarzon, presented its respective accomplishments for the first semester of 2022 in accordance with OPMBCS and the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program.

Cavite OIC-PENRO, Januel R. Peras also presented the updates and accomplishments of their office with regard to the clearing of illegal aquaculture structures in Cavite City. He said joint surveillance and monitoring operations in the city waters were conducted by their office, PCG, PNP-MG, and LGU in support of the post clearing of illegal sapra structures.

Aside from the presenting agencies, attendees also comprised of representatives from the DENR-Manila Bay Coordinating Office, DENR-Manila Bay Site Coordinating and Management Offices (MBSCMO) of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and Rizal, Mines and Geosciences Bureau Calabarzon, Laguna Lake Development Authority, Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Offices of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and Rizal, Department of Social Welfare and Development Calabarzon, and Silang Water District. The said activity, which was attended by a total of 87 delegates, was organized by DENR Calabarzon MBSCMO.

The next SCC meeting will be held in December 2022.
