An orientation meeting for the deputation of Environment and Natural Resources Officers (DENRO) was conducted on March 16, 2023 and was attended by representatives from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of the different municipalities in the province of Rizal.

The said meeting aimed to orient the participants with regard to the laws, rules, and regulations under the jurisdiction of the DENR. Several key topics were discussed during the orientation including the overview of the Community-based Forest Management, Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines, and Chainsaw Act of 2002. Processes and requirements for the permits such as Tree Cutting Permits, Transport Permits, and Private Tree Plantation Registration were also discussed during the open forum.

Concerns and issues were also brought up in order to further ease the operation and communication between PENRO Rizal and the Local Government Units. Such concerns included boundary disputes between municipalities, joint apprehensions and investigations, and the difference of rule implementation in Protected Areas. In his closing remarks, PENRO Technical Services Division Chief, For. Ernesto M. Diso Jr., stated that such meetings not only add further knowledge but also provide an opportunity to strengthen coordination between DENR and the local government.

The meeting concluded with the signing of commitment by all representatives, pledging to protect the environment through proper implementation of the law while delivering excellent service to the public.
