Mulanay, Quezon - Last November 14, 2022, DENR CENRO Catanauan personnel facilitated a  turn-over of two (2) Luzon Bleeding Heart (Gallicolumba luzonica) in Brgy. San Isidro, San Narciso, Quezon. The two (2) birds were then examined by the Office of Municipal Agriculturist of Catanauan, Quezon to check its health conditions. Upon examination, the birds were found to be fit to release and no injury was observed.

As recommended, the wildlife were released in Buenavista Protected Landscape (BPL) on November 16, 2022.

Based on the DENR Administrative Order No. 2019-09 or the Updated National List of threatened Philippine Fauna and their categories, the Luzon Bleeding Heart is classified as vulnerable or species that is neither critically endangered nor endangered but is under threat from adverse factors throughout its range and is likely to be moved to the endangered category in the future. ###
