In support to Department of Education (DepEd) Memorandum No. 069, series of 2023 entitled โ€œGuidelines on the implementation of the Project DepEd 236,000 Trees - A Christmas Gift for the Children, CENRO Catanauan provides four thousand one hundred twenty-four (4,124) different fruit-bearing seedlings which were planted in the premises of various schools within CENRO Catanauan jurisdiction.
 
The simultaneous tree planting activity was conducted last December 6, 2023 within the jurisdiction of CENRO Catanauan Office vis-ร -vis Alibijaban Elementary School at Brgy. Alibijaban, San Andres, Quezon, wherein kick-off activity was held. Likewise, said activity was participated in by one hundred fifteen (115) public schools.
 
The said activity aims to provide a unique educational opportunity for students to actively participate in tree planting activities, fostering a deeper understanding of environmental issues, and promoting conservation efforts. In addition, planting trees will contribute to the beautification of school grounds and provide shade, improve air quality, and create a calming atmosphere to have a more pleasant and conducive learning environment for students. ###
CENRO Catanauan supported the Implementation of the Project: DepEd 236,000 Trees โ€“ A Christmas Gift for Children by providing seedlings to the different schools within the jurisdiction of CENRO Catanauan, Quezon by distributing a total of 4,124 seedlings of different species, including fruit-bearing and indigenous tree species to the Department of Education.
 
The said seedlings were planted within the 115 schools premises - both of primary and secondary that is within the municipality of Catanauan, Buenavista, Macalelon, San Francisco and San Andres, all that are in the Province of Quezon.
 
CENRO Catanauan staff assisted in the said activity particularly in the demonstration of the proper planting of seedlings as well as in providing inspirational messages, emphasizing the importance of planting trees in mitigating climate change.
 
In return, the DepEd was reminded to monitor, evaluate and maintain the planted seedlings through replanting, to ensure the 100% survival rate of the project.
 
Said activity was attended by the school officers, faculty and students.
 
The effort of the DepEd contributes in achieving the national goal of the DENR in enhancing the National Greening Program of the government.
 
Meanwhile, CENRO Catanauan is looking forward to a more fruitful partnership and collaboration with the Department of Education within the area of responsibility.###

The DENR-CENRO Catanauan, Quezon turned-over the initial 60 armchairs to the Casay National High School (CNHS), Brgy. Casay, San Francisco, Quezon for the Casaya-Sayang Casay Highschool Students.

On a turn-over ceremony on December 1, 2023, key officials of the DENR-PENRO Quezon, OIC, PENR Officer Cyril A. Coliflores and OIC, CENRO Ramil J. Gutierrez, together with the LGU of San Francisco, Quezon represented by Municipal Vice Mayor Ma. Kresna E. Fernandez and Mr. Elizalde P. Aurinto, the President of the General Parents-Teachers Association (GPTA) had attended the said momentous event. 

The said armchairs were manufactured from the 272 pieces of assorted turned-over lumbers from the Office of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) under several issued Tree Cutting Permits. 

This significant milestone commenced with a warm welcome from Mr. Aurinto as he expressed gratitude for the collective efforts that made the initiative possible and emphasized the importance of providing a conducive learning environment for the students. 

Meanwhile, the School Principal I, Mr. Byron Aloysius V. Cuerdo, delivered an inspiring message, highlighting the transformative impact of the new armchairs on the students' educational experience in which he commended the collaborative spirit of the community and the school's commitment in providing quality education.

OIC, PENRO Coliflores acknowledged the significance of environmental sustainability in education and pledged the department's support for future initiatives that promote both learning and environmental awareness. OIC, CENRO Gutierrez also shared his insights and expressed optimism about the positive impact the project would have on the students' overall well-being. Vice Mayor, Honorable Fernandez, extended her congratulations to the school community, emphasizing the importance of investing in education for the betterment of society. She applauded the collaborative efforts that led to the successful implementation of the project. Public Schools District Supervisor Laarni A. Gloria, represented by Francis B. Odiame โˆ’ Principal I of the Jacinto G. Esplana National High School, conveyed his messages of support and encouragement, affirming their commitment to the continuous improvement of the educational system. 

The ceremony was concluded through the Municipal Executive Assistant, Mr. Aries Sarmientoโ€™s expression of gratitude to everyone involved in the activityโ€™s endeavor. Further, he also urged the community to sustain their commitment to the betterment of education in Casay National High School. ###

 

PENRO Cavite through its Gender and Development Focal Point System organized several activities to promote and support the nationwide 18-day campaign to end Violence Against Women (VAW) from November 25, 2023 to December 12, 2023. 

Throughout the campaign, the said Office used the All-Women Cast Lupang Hinirang audio-video presentation every Monday convocation, as well as encouraged its personnel to wear orange-shaded attire to show their support for the movement. The PENRO staff were also encouraged to use the official logo of the 2023 18-day campaign to end VAW as their Facebook profile frames. 

Several IEC materials such as flags and stickers showcasing the theme โ€œUNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippinesโ€ and other quotes that promote the elimination of VAW, were distributed among PENRO Cavite Personnel during the launching of the campaign. Likewise, the official banner for the campaign was posted beside the entrance door of PENRO Cavite Building and was displayed on the TV screens in the lobby and receiving area. 

Presidential Proclamation No. 1172, Series of 2006 declared November 25 to December 12 of every year as the โ€œ18 โ€“ Day Campaign to End Violence Against Womenโ€ with the goal of protecting the human rights of women. ###

Calamba City, Laguna โ€” Last November 2023, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources CALABARZON turned over seven hundred twenty-three (723) Boxes of Oil-Absorbing Pads to the Office of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council CALABARZON through the Office of the Civil Defense IV-A.
 
The said oil absorbing pads were part of the 3016 Boxes of pads donated by Oceanus Conservation Inc. earlier this year 2023 which main purpose is for the RDRRMC be aid in the preparedness and response in the event that an oil spill will occur within their Area of Responsibility.
 
Turn over happened at the DENR CALABARZON Regional Office Ground Floor Conference Hall on a short program initiated by the Office of the Chairperson of RDRRMC โ€” Carlos Eduardo E. Alvarez III.
 
Regional Executive Director โ€” Nilo B. Tamoria, CESO III graced the program with his Keynote Message.
On the program, the relevance of Republic Act No. 9993 or the โ€œPhilippine Coast Guard Law of 2009โ€ was also discussed in connection to the said turnover of oil-absorbing pads.
 
Oil spills are a serious environmental concern that can have long-term impacts on both wildlife and the ecosystem while oil absorbing pads provide a quick and effective solution to mitigate the damage caused by oil spills.###
