The DENR PENRO Cavite delivered a zero waste management lecture to Grades 4-6 students of Salitran Elementary School during the YES-O awareness program entitled “Harmony in Crisis: Navigating Climate Change, Global Warming, and Biodiversity Conservation.” 

Cavite PENRO Youth Desk Officers and Manila Bay Site Coordinating/Management Office staff delivered the lecture that covered the DENR priority thrusts and programs and Republic Act No. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2001. They emphasized the current status of waste management in the province as well as the initiatives of the DENR to lessen waste. They also encouraged the students to participate in waste reduction efforts through the practice of reuse, reduce, recycle, and recover. 

A poster making contest with the theme “Waste No More: Tamang Pamamahala ng Basura ng Isang Mag-aaral SA Elementarya'' was also conducted to showcase the creative minds of the young students of Salitran Elementary School. The participating students created different posters about proper waste segregation, reuse, reduce, recycle, and recover concept, nature conservation, and the like.

The students pledged to be more conscious about their environment and to always remember the learnings they have acquired throughout the activity. They also committed to share all the gained knowledge to their schoolmates, friends, and family members for them to also join in taking care of our environment.
