Three (3) Reticulated Pythons were successfully released in the forest area of Cagsiay III, Mauban, Quezon on September 26, 2023, by the Monitoring and Enforcement Section (MES) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) Tayabas City.

The said pythons were voluntarily turned over to CENRO Tayabas by the concerned citizens of Dolores and Sariaya, Quezon, and Lucena City through the assistance of the City Government. Turned overs were immediately brought to the offices of the City and Provincial Veterinarians for careful medical inspection and examination.

Based on the findings of the veterinarians, the wildlife appeared to be healthy, alert with good body condition, and free from any communicable animal disease. Thus, immediate release to the wild was recommended.

This activity is in line with Republic Act No. 9147 or the Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act of 2001 in order to preserve and encourage ecological balance and biological diversity for the preservation and protection of wildlife species and their natural habitats.

CENRO Tayabas continuously calls for these types of incidents to be reported to protect and conserve the biodiversity.###
