Batangas City - On September 12, 2023, the Conservation and Development Section of DENR-PENRO Batangas spearheaded the conduct of Protected Area Suitability Assessment (PASA) Workshop for the Verde Island Passage in the Province of Batangas.

The PASA Team from CENROs Lipa and Calaca Conservation and Development Section (CDS), and PENRO Batangas Technical Services Division – CDS convened to consolidate and finalize the results of the on-site observation and key informant interviews conducted.

PASA aims to evaluate the suitability of the identified area for inclusion under the National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 1992 (NIPAS) following the criteria and objectives in the DENR Administrative Order (DAO) 2008-26 and the existing guidelines and procedure set by the Department.
