General Luna, Quezon - The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) IV-A CALABARZON and Local Government Unit (LGU) of General Luna, Quezon signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the joint implementation of the Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP) of the municipality on September 15, 2023 at Gabaldon Bldg., General Luna Central Elementary School, General Luna, Quezon.

In his message, RED Nilo B. Tamoria expressed his gratitude to LGU, members of the Municipal Technical Working Group, CENRO Catanauan, and PENRO Quezon for the technical assistance and support throughout the process of FLUP, and all individuals who contributed to the formulation of the plan. The FLUP is a plan for the proper allocation of forests and forestlands.

Kung si General Luna ay pinamunuan po ang pakikibaka para sa kalayaan ng bayan, ngayon naman po ay pangunahan po natin ang pakikibaka para po sa paglaya sa banta sa ating kalikasan sa pamamagitan po ng ating FLUP”, RED Tamoria added.

Meanwhile, Hon. Mayor Matt Erwin V. Florido assured his full support in the implementation of FLUP in the municipality. He also reminded all the Barangay Captains to include environmental activities and forest protection on their annual budget in sustenance to the FLUP implementation. “Nawa ay maging inspirasyon tayo sa ibang komunidad na patuloy magsikap para sa kalikasan at para sa kapakanan ng susunod na henerasyon” Mayor Florido said.

The activity was attended by the Municipal Technical Working Group, Barangay Captains, Sangguniang Bayan members, DENR personnel, and other stakeholders. Chief TSD/ In-charge Office of the PENRO Julieta P. Narte and OIC CENRO are also present during the MOA Signing.

The Forest Land Use Plan of General Luna serves as a written environmental covenant for the allocation of 711.28 hectares’ open access areas of forests and forestlands (FFL) to have a proper management through the issuance of tenurial instruments and related strategies for continuous protection, conservation, development and management of FFL. It is the product of collaborative efforts of the LGU and DENR with the guidance of the organized Municipal Technical Working Group (MTWG). ###
