The DENR-CENRO Calauag, through its Monitoring and Enforcement Section (MES), has apprehended on August 7, 2023, a total of seventy-nine (79) pieces of Mahogany round logs―with an aggregate volume of 1.6 cubic meters (678.4 board feet) amounting to Php 27,120.

The surveillance operation transpired at around 6:00 PM of the same date in response to the intelligence report received by the Office regarding the cutting and loading of alleged undocumented forest products in one (1) blue elf truck near an auto shop in Brgy. Lumutan, Atimonan, Quezon.

This led to a hot pursuit operation that later resulted in the apprehension of said undocumented forest products found loaded in the reported conveyance as Forest Officers of CENRO Calauag MES intercepted in Brgy. Talaba, Atimonan, Quezon with the aid of PNP-MPS Atimonan.

Meanwhile, the driver and his companions were immediately apprehended after failing to present any authorization/permit for the forest products.

The arrested individuals are now in the custody of PNP-MPS Atimonan pending the inquest proceedings and filing of the criminal complaint together with the owner at large in violation of Section 77 of Presidential Decree No. 705 as amended by Executive Order No. 277 and renumbered by Republic Act No. 7161.
