Calamba City, Laguna – As stipulated in the signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the thirty-eight (38)-hectare adopted site of the Mitsubishi Motors Phils. Corp. (MMPC) and Samahan ng mga Magsasaka at Mangingisda ng Pinaglapatan (SMMP), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON through its Conservation and Development Division (CDD) conducted a Ceremonial Tree Planting Activity at Brgy. Pinaglapatan, Infanta, Quezon on July 14, 2023.

The activity was participated in by the DENR CALABARZON Regional Office personnel, Forest Management Bureau Director – Arleigh J. Adorable, CESO III, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) – Quezon personnel, Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) – Real personnel, MMPC Executive Officers – Noriaki Hirakata (Chairman), Takehisa Usami (EVP, Corporate Division), Taro Soga (EVP, Manufacturing Division) and other selected employees, SMMP members, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) – Infanta personnel, and other Brgy. Pinaglapatan Officials and locals.

The activity was graced by  Regional Executive Director (RED) Nilo B. Tamoria, CESO III, and in his message, he emphasized that as human beings, our connection with nature and environment is vital, since trees have significant roles in maintaining and protecting human well-being for both present and future generations. 

A total of 720 Botong (Barringtonia asiatica) seedlings were planted within the 35-hectare adopted site. 

Ribbon-cutting on the donated lighthouse of the MMPC was another highlight of the event.

According to Hirakata, the collaboration between DENR CALABARZON and SMMP aims to make a tangible and lasting impact on the environment and alleviate the effects of Climate Change to date. 

The ceremonial tree planting led by MMPC and SMMP marks the beginning of coordinated efforts by communities, private sectors, organizations and local government units to conserve and maintain the environment. ###
