CLOUD RAT RELEASED IN BUENAVISTA PROTECTED LANDSCAPE

DENR-CENRO Catanauan personnel released a cloud rat (Phloemys cuming) in Buenavista Protected Landscape in Mulanay, Quezon.

Based on assessment, the said wildlife, with a length of 42 centimeters and a weight of 1.5 kilograms, was found to be physically healthy, hence, was fit for release to its original habitat.

The said wildlife was voluntarily turned-over to DENR-CENRO Catanauan by a certain Mr. Abel Pelandiana, representative of Polytechnic University of the Philippines - Mulanay, Quezon branch. According to him, the cloud rat was surrendered to him by the local folks of Brgy. Anusan, Catanauan, Quezon in September 2023. He further disclosed that the said wildlife was found during a clean-up activity in the area.

Prior to its release, the cloud rat was brought to the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist of Catanauan, Quezon for examination, which consequently issued a Certification stating that the wildlife is fit for release.###
