Pursuant to Proclamation No. 470 or the International Coastal Clean-up Day signed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo declaring every third Saturday of September of each year as the International Coastal Clean-up Day and Presidential Proclamation No. 244 declaring September as National Clean-up Month, DENR-PENRO Batangas joined in the conduct of Coastal Clean-up with the theme “Clean Seas for Healthy Fisheries” in Brgy. San Teodoro, Agoncillo, Batangas last September 16, 2023. The International Coastal Clean-up aims to engage individuals in the community in removing garbage and debris from beaches, streams, and other bodies of water, identifying the origins of litter, changing polluting behaviors, and raising awareness about the scale of the water pollution problem.

Most of the trash collected were cigarette butts, plastic bottles, plastic sachets and diapers. As per the record of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO)- Agoncillo, 3 trucks of garbage (approximate 76 sacks) were collected in the 1-kilometer shoreline of coastal barangays of San Teodoro, Agoncillo, Batangas. Collected wastes will undergo final sorting in the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) of the LGU of Agoncillo.

The activity was participated by 111 individuals (28 are males and 83 are females) composed of selected employees from DENR-PENRO Batangas, PAMO-TVPL, DEPED Agoncillo, and LGU of Agoncillo.###
