DENR-CENRO Calauag set out in assisting the Local Government Unit of Plaridel, Quezon in crafting the Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP) through meetings and a series of coordination with concerned stakeholders in the early months of 2023.

Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Maria Celita P. Forbes stressed that Plaridel LGU has been requesting CENRO Calauag the assistance they need to craft a Forest Land Use Plan. The MPDC was grateful that the latter has been considered in the Work and Financial Plan of CENRO Calauag this FY 2023.

Based on Forest Management Bureau (FMB) Technical Bulletin No. 2, a FLUP is a document developed through an iterative, transparent, accountable, and participatory process to ensure sustainable management of forests and forestlands providing environmental, social, and economic benefits to society.

CENRO Calauag FLUP Preparation Team has already undertaken initial steps such as data and map collection, orientation with the technical working group and other stakeholders, and community profiling. Further, the Memorandum of Agreement for the FLUP preparation has been reviewed by the DENR CALABARZON Legal Division and was already submitted to the Office of the Regional Director for signing.

The Team will proceed with the activities to conduct supplementary field works and aerial surveys on the following day to accomplish Step 3 of FLUP which is the Prioritization of Sub-watersheds and Allocation of Forests and Forestlands (FFL).###
