In the month of March, wildlife is given the spotlight in support of the celebration of World Wildlife Day every 3rd day of the month. This year, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) - Batangas conducted an activity entitled “Wildlife Matters” on March 28, 2023 at the Conference Hall, DENR CENRO Lipa Office Building.

The activity was participated in by PENRO and CENRO staff. The resource speakers of the event were Certificate of Wildlife Registration (CWR) holders and Wildlife Farm Permittees of this Office, particularly, Isabel and Tammie Garchitorena.

Personnel from the Enforcement and Monitoring Section, Conservation and Development Section, and Regulation and Permitting Section actively joined the activity. Isabel and Tammie taught the participants on the proper handling of wildlife as well as the first aid to be applied during unwanted animal bites and emergencies.

This year’s theme “Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation” provides the opportunity to highlight the people who are making a difference in the field, and to celebrate the bridge that Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has been for conservation partnerships to form, making a significant contribution to sustainability and wildlife and biodiversity conservation.
