CATANAUAN, QUEZON- In support to the DILG program “Buhayin ang Pangangalaga sa Kalikasan”, CENRO Catanauan, Quezon conducted a tree planting activity in Brgy. Cawayanin Ibaba, Catanauan, Quezon.

The activity was participated by the DENR personnel, BJMP, PNP, BFP, representatives from the LGU Catanauan, Quezon and OJTs of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP).

Ramil J. Gutierrez explained the purpose of the tree planting activity and importance of trees in the protection of streambank which this Office identified as the planting site of the activity. Likewise, each agency extended their support on the environmental activities of DENR and willingness to participate in the conservation and protection of our environment. Meanwhile, FTI/NGP Staff Gerardo Z. Salvan demonstrated the proper handling and steps on how to plant the provided seedlings.

A total of 200 seedlings which consists of 100 Lipote (Syzygium polycephaloides) and 100 Kalumpit (Terminalia microcarpa) were planted within the 135.0 hectares Streambank graduated NGP Site Plantation. The provided seedlings were planted within the 2.18-hectare portion of the aforesaid plantation.  

The simultaneous tree planting led by the DILG marks the launching of combined efforts of the Local Government Units, other government agencies, and communities in conserving and protecting our environment. It also supports the National Greening program especially those who were in graduated status. ###
