Majayjay, Laguna – In celebration of World Bamboo Day 2022 with the theme, “Pamanang Kawayan: Luntiang Ginto ng Kagubatan”, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CENRO Sta. Cruz, Laguna simultaneously planted 50 bamboo species along the side of the boardwalk and downstream of Taytay Falls during the Nationwide Tree Planting activity held at Barangay Taytay, Majayjay, Laguna on September 13, 2022.

The Officials of Majayjay, Laguna are grateful for being part of the bamboo planting project and gave their warm welcome and support to this activity. The attendees are very much willing to participate which will benefit, nurture, and save the environment with the awareness of climate change.

The event was attended by Mayor Romeo P. Amorado, Vice Mayor Juan Ariel A. Arganosa Jr., PGENRO Marlon P. Tobias, Barangay Chairman Bonifacio R. Consebido, MENRO Teofila T. Solomero, DILG Provincial Director Engr. John M. Cerezo, OIC-CENRO Venerando U. Garcia, and PENRO Eriberto B. Saños, CESE.

In addition, an exhibit promoting various bamboo-crafted products such as planters, dividers, floor vases, and lamp shades from the Ecosystems Research Development Bureau (ERDB) was installed at the Protected Area Superintendent (PASu) Satellite Office during the tree planting event and transferred to DENR CENRO Sta. Cruz exhibit corner for its month-long feature.

This aims to disseminate the practical uses of the bamboo plant and recognize its potential value in the market for being known as the “Poor man’s timber”.
