In line with the formulation of the Localization of the Philippine Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (PBSAP), a meeting was facilitated on March 04, 2022 at the Conference Hall of PGO Building, Brgy. IX, Lucena City. It was participated by the Conservation and Development Section (CDS) personnel together with PG-ENRO Manuel A. Beloso and PGO Executive Assistant Roger A. Panganiban and staff Mignon Apolinar and Marie Grace Cadiente.  The activity is one of the seven (7) stages under the Preparatory Stage in the Formulation of LBSAP in Quezon Province.  Its purpose is to convey the objectives of LBSAP to concerned stakeholders and to create a Technical Working Group (TWG) for the formulation of the plan.

The discussion was mainly focused on the rationale and objective of LBSAP.  Chief, CDS/DMO III Corazon D. Ramos emphasized the significance of active involvement and participation of the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) in the implementation of the project to ensure that the strategies regarding biodiversity conservation are incorporated in the local plans.

Ms. Janeth R. Salazar, Senior Ecosystem Management Specialist (SEMS) presented and discussed the Activity, Design and Composition of the Technical Working Group (TWG) for PBSAP.  She enumerated some preparatory activities such as Data Gathering, Consultative Workshop, Writing Stage, Presentation of Draft LBSAP and Adoption of LBSAP which are in accordance with the Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) Technical Bulletin No. 2021-05.

The Provincial Government of Quezon expressed positive support to the implementation of LBSAP.  Said Office will start the drafting of the Executive Order for the creation of a Technical Working Group (TWG) for the formulation of LBSAP of Quezon Province.  The Executive Order shall be reviewed by the Legal Department for the subsequent issuance of a Special Order to commence the implementation of the project.
