The DENR-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Rizal proudly collaborated with Realme Philippines Smartphone Photography Club for a memorable photo walk at Wawa Dam and Pamitinan Protected Landscape (PPL) in celebration of World Wetlands Day theme “Wetlands and Human Well-being.

Anchoring this year’s theme of the environmental event, the photo walk aimed to raise awareness about the critical importance of wetlands ecosystems in sustaining biodiversity and supporting human livelihoods. The said activity brought together passionate photographers to capture the essence of wetlands and promote environmental conservation through the lens of creativity. By showcasing the beauty and significance of these natural landscapes, the activity fostered a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness between wetlands and our well-being.

The photo walk was led by Mr. Whenjie Patlingrao, a dedicated squad leader of the Realme Smartphone Photography Club, and was joined by youth members of the Dumagat Remontado, the indigenous peoples in Rodriguez, Rizal. It served as the participant’s immersive experience in nature photography using the recently launched Realme 12 Pro + 5G phone.

Participants had an opportunity to learn essential techniques and principles of photography through a lecture on basic photography by photographer Ms. Moira Ley Manilao, further enhancing their skills and understanding of the art form.

PPL, located in Rizal Province, is a distinguished natural and cultural heritage site spanning approximately 609.15 hectares. This protected area boasts a diverse array of ecosystems, historical landmarks, and cultural significance, including the iconic Wawa Dam, a water storage inland wetland type.###
