The DENR-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Cavite through its Planning and Management Section held a provincial consultation as part of the department’s efforts in ensuring coherent planning in addressing core Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) management, rehabilitation, and protection.
 
The said consultation meeting aims to present the Office’s accomplishments for CY 2023 and to inform the LGUs, Academes, OGAs, POs/CSOs, and other stakeholders on the projects, programs, and activities of PENRO Cavite for CY 2024 and the next three years.
 
With 90 engaged participants representing various sectors and stakeholders, the consultation provided a venue for inclusive dialogue and strategic planning. Attendees include the Unit/Section Chiefs of PENRO Cavite, representatives from the General Services Office and Provincial Planning and Development Office, MENRO/City ENRO & MPDC/City PDC of the municipalities of Alfonso, Amadeo, General Emilio Aguinaldo, General Mariano Alvarez (GMA), Indang, Kawit, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez, Naic, Noveleta, Rosario, Silang, Tanza, Ternate, and cities of Bacoor, Carmona, Cavite, Dasmariñas, General Trias, Imus, Tagaytay, and Trece Martires.
 
Participants also included delegates from the Provincial Agrarian Reform Office, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Trade and Industry, Cavite State University-Main Campus, and De La Salle University-Dasmariñas.
 
PENRO Management Services Division Chief, Ms. Ma. Joy Grace S. Sazon emphasized the importance of collaborative planning as well as the role of the Department of Budget and Management in ensuring competent budget preparation for the upcoming years, stressing the need for meticulous revenue programming to support departmental initiatives effectively. She stated that the Forward Estimates shall be used to determine the allocatable amount for the medium-term expenditure framework for CY 2025-2027.
 
Subsequent presentations highlighted the achievements of PENRO Cavite for CY 2023, including milestones in Forests and Forest Resources Use, Coastal and Marine Management, Land Management Program, National Greening Program, Soil Conservation and Watershed Management, and Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program. Additionally, plans and programs for CY 2024 were unveiled, focusing on natural resources management, operations against illegal activities, and other initiatives aimed at environmental preservation and sustainable development. Moreover, MSD Chief Sazon stated that PENRO Cavite is very much ready to give inputs in addressing environmental issues and concerns. Moreover, she opened the floor for proposals on activities and programs that can be integrated to the programs of DENR and to raise short and medium-term plans.
 
Representatives from the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) CALABARZON and Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) CALABARZON also shared their respective accomplishments for CY 2023 and outlined their plans for CY 2024 and preceding years, encompassing key areas such as clean air and water programs, solid waste management, geohazard assessments, and community resilience building efforts.
 
The Provincial Consultation served as a cornerstone for participatory planning, fostering collaboration among stakeholders to address pressing environmental challenges and advance the province's sustainable development agenda. It epitomized a shared commitment to nurturing the environment for the well-being of current and future generations. ###
