The DENR-Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) CALABARZON and DENR-PENRO Cavite entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Avana Events Place Corporation for the Adopt-A-River Program of the two-kilometer stretch of Saluysoy Falls on February 22, 2024.

The said MOA signing was attended by Mayor Randy A. Salamat of Alfonso, Cavite, who emphasized that Alfonso LGU will remain conducive to business without compromising any necessary permits, especially environmental permits, to ensure the protection and sustenance of the natural resources in the municipality.

Cavite DENR-PENR Officer Januel R. Peras also extended his gratitude to the stakeholders for taking part in environmental protection and conservation. During the event, EMB CALABARZON Water Quality Management Section Chief and Adopt-an-Estero Focal Person, Girliesina E. Sebarillo provided an overview of the Adopt-an-Estero/Waterbody Program.

Ms. Jane C. Bernardo, President of Avana Events Place Corporation and Adopter of the Waterbody, expressed her sincere gratitude to everyone who became part of the momentous signing. She assured that her team will do their best to maintain the adopted portion of Saluysoy Falls.

The Adopt-A-River Program is a collaborative undertaking between and among various stakeholders such as the community, private sectors, LGUs, other government agencies, and the DENR. The Program was an action taken in support of the continuing mandamus for the clean-up and rehabilitation of Manila Bay. Through partnerships like this, the DENR is able to encourage more institutions and sectors to participate and be part in the pursuit of a greener environment for all. ###
