DENR CALABARZON Regional Executive Director Nilo B. Tamoria led the turn-over ceremony for the new CENR Officer of Catanauan, Quezon on January 4, 2024.

The outgoing OIC-CENRO Ramil J. Gutierrez had mixed emotions as he passed the ceremonial baton of key and documents to the returning Catanauan CENRO Oliver O. Olivo. The latter used to be the OIC-CENRO of Catanauan, Quezon in 2015-2017 before he was assigned to CENRO Real, Quezon. On the other hand, OIC-CENRO Gutierrez became DENR Catanauan head after his stint at the DENR CALABARZON Regional Office as Conservation and Development Division Chief in 2020-2021.

Quezon OIC-PENRO Cyril A. Coliflores recounted almost similar wavelengths for passion for work of the both CENROs, and emphasized that being assigned to different areas is more of learning and the challenges prepare one for a new job after another. He also highlighted that exposure to different work environments is an advantage if one aims for a higher position, armed with the DENR visions and mission on the one hand and propelled with training and wisdom for decision-making.

CENRO Olivo acknowledged the differences between the areas of responsibility of CENROs Catanauan and Real and that strategies may differ towards achieving a target outcome. He stressed that public service transcends time and space, with the ultimate and inclusive access to a safe and healthy environment. He said protected area management, monitoring and enforcement activities, and land titling issues are among the commonalities of the two offices, however, he cited that it is more challenging in CENRO Real compared to CENRO Catanauan.

During his stint as OIC, CENRO Catanauan, now Tayabas CENR Officer Gutierrez established his leadership and initiatives in prioritizing service to the public by bringing the DENR right to the municipal offices to encourage easy access to the services being offered by the department. It was also during his time when 60 school armchairs were donated to Casay National High School in San Francisco Quezon.

Gutierrez encouraged CENRO Catanauan personnel to support CENRO Olivo and to continue delivering high caliber service, carrying the motto "Mabilis, Tapat at De Kalidad na Serbisyo".

DENR CALABARZON Regional Executive Director Nilo B. Tamoria emphasized the flexibility and resilience of government officials such as the CENROs in meeting the challenges of time and the commitment to move on every time one is transferred from one assignment to another. Moreover, then Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Jose Elmer Bascos related the importance of mobility and communication technology as tools in addressing issues and concerns in the new era.###
