CENRO Sta. Cruz participated in the 4th Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on November 09, 2023 at 9:00 in the morning. The activity was conducted pursuant to National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Memorandum No. 06, Series of 2023: “Resumption of Face-to-Face Conduct of NSED Through the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).”

CENRO Sta. Cruz personnel performed the “Duck/Drop, Cover and Hold” position in their respective workstations at the sound of the emergency alarm which lasted for a minute. Once the alarm stopped ringing, still covering their heads, all personnel left the building through the fire exits and proceeded towards the designated evacuation area, which is at the front gate of the compound to be safe from falling debris. The earthquake drill concluded when all personnel were accounted for. The drill was carried out successfully and everyone has been participative during the activity which was facilitated by the CENRO Sta. Cruz Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Officers.

The conduct of NSED aims to strengthen and promote preparedness and resilience among communities to reduce the risks and impacts brought about by earthquakes.
