A report was received by DENR PENRO Cavite regarding the illegal dumping of solid waste along the coast of Tanza, Cavite. According to the report, on August 31, 2023, piles of solid wastes and debris were found scattered along the shoreline of Barangay Capipisa,  Tanza, Cavite. Said area is regularly being cleaned by the River Rangers according to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) staff. However, the amount of waste materials found prompted the DENR to organize a bigger clean-up event. 

When news spread that waste had been illegally dumped along the coast of Brgy. Capipisa, Tanza, Cavite, the call went out for volunteers to take action. On September 16, 2023, hundreds of volunteers came together for an impactful coastal clean-up activity spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). 

The coastal clean-up aims to raise public awareness of the impacts of pollution and mismanaged waste materials on bodies of water and the environment. The event also highlights the importance of collective action in addressing environmental issues and challenges. The DENR vowed to strengthen its information campaigns and stricter enforcement of environmental laws to curb pollution in the environment.

In the end, it is heartening to see communities bonding together to solve an environmental issue that affects us all. The volunteers who gave their time to clean Brgy. Capipisa’s coastline should be commended for its civic-mindedness and willingness to take action. Their efforts ensured that future generations would be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. ###
