Catanauan, Quezon - One Reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) was turned over by LGU Catanauan to CENRO Catanauan on April 16, 2023.

The wildlife was found by a certain Jayson Raby at Sitio Sanduyan, Brgy. Tuhian, Catanauan, Quezon, and immediately reported to the Local Government Unit (LGU) Catanauan by Kagawad Vic Prias to check the health condition of the same. Ms. Jeane Pauline M. CaƱeda, MENRO Staff coordinated with CENRO Catanauan for assistance and later for the turn-over of the wildlife. The reticulated python was monitored by the personnel from Municipal Agriculturist and upon checking, it was found that the wildlife weighs 10 kilograms, was 2.8 meters long, and was 0.32 meters in diameter.

The wildlife will be brought to the Provincial Veterinarian in Talipan, Pagbilao, Quezon to further assess its health condition and for turn-over to Wildlife Rescue Center in Calauan, Laguna to rehabilitate and monitor before releasing back into its natural habitat. The activity was pursuant to RA 9147 or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2001 which provides conservation and protection of wildlife resources and their habitats.
