Mulanay, Quezon ─ In observance of this year’s National Women’s Month and Philippine Water Week, CENRO Catanauan, Quezon in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Mulanay, Quezon conducted a mangrove tree planting activity within the portion of the graduated National Greening Program (NGP) site located in Brgy. Canuyep, Mulanay, Quezon on March 30, 2023.

Prior to the mangrove planting, personnel of CENRO Catanauan discussed the importance of the said celebrations to empower women and to strengthen partnerships and collaboration in the conduct of various environmental-related activities in the municipality. The activity involved the participation of the LGU of Mulanay, Quezon, 4Ps members, Samahan ng mga Kababaihan, Brgy. Officials, all are residents of Brgy. Canuyep, Mulanay, Quezon. A total of 120 potted seedlings of bakauan babae were planted on site.

The activity aimed to enhance the mangrove areas of Brgy. Canuyep for the conservation and protection of the coastal areas, as well as to improve resiliency to various nature-based calamities. Likewise, in the long run, it will also prevent other habitats such as coral reefs and seagrass beds by trapping solid wastes and sediments coming from the upland and residential sources.###
