The Monitoring and Enforcement Section (MES) of DENR-CENRO Catanauan, Quezon continues to strengthen the implementation of environmental laws by installing signage along the coastline of Brgy. Cutcutan, Catanauan, Quezon.

The said activity aims to general public awareness and intensify law enforcement within the portion of Presidential Proclamation 2152 (mangrove area), and protect the identified turtle nesting sites within the area.

The signage contain the prohibited acts under RA 9147 (Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2001), Section 43 of PD 705 (Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines), and Section 4 of RA 7161 (An Act Incorporating Certain Section of PD 705, and Providing Amendments thereto by Increasing the Forest Charges on Timber and other Forest Products). The said Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials were installed in strategic locations through the assistance of the barangay officials.

Continuous IEC campaign is continuously being undertaken by the DENR patrol sector assigned in the area to spread awareness of the different environmental laws. Likewise, the assigned DENR personnel continues to involve the community in the conservation and protection activities of the department.

CENRO Catanauan reminds the public that possession of wildlife and cutting of trees without an appropriate permit are punishable by law.
