One (1) Tarictic Hornbill or “Penelopides panini” was successfully turned-over to the Wildlife Rescue Center in Quezon City for its rehabilitation.

The DENR PENRO Cavite through its Surveillance, Investigation and Intelligence Unit (SIIU) investigated the said case in coordination with the Barangay Officials of Patutong Malaki, Tagaytay City and the HomeOwners Association (HOA) of the subdivision.

To avoid the same incidents, a Communication, Education and Public Awareness (CEPA) campaign was conducted to the villagers to provide information and knowledge on how to handle such situations adhering to various legal provisions.

Moreover, DENR keeps on reminding the public that illegal possession and sale of wildlife is punishable under Republic Act No. 9147 “Wildlife Act of the Philippines”.
