DENR CALABARZON Regional Executive Director Nilo B. Tamoria welcomes DENR Key Officials, personnel from the Forest Management Bureau (FMB), and the partner Peoples’ Organization in the conduct of the 2-day Peoples’ Organization Summit and Watershed Forum for the Forest Management Project (FMP) this August 11-12, 2022 in San Mateo, Rizal.

“It is worthy to note that the FMP is a very good initiative for the rehabilitation of our degraded forest lands and critical river basins”, RED Tamoria said as he extended appreciation for the successful conduct of the project. “We need more of these initiatives for the forestlands and watersheds in CALABARZON since more and more urban areas are being developed in the region”, he added.

This June 2022 marks the 10th year of implementation of the FMP headed by the FMB and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Through this initiative, they have mobilized around 2,000 Community-Based Forest Management Agreements (CBFMA) covering an estimated 1,700,000 hectares of classified forestlands, and a 6% increase of forest cover in the priority sites. ###
