The DENR PENRO Rizal participated in the operation to remove campaign materials led by Earth Saver Ambassador Deniece Cornejo together with Sgt. Maria Eloisa Soriano of the Philippine Airforce Reserve Command. The project, with the theme “Baklasin Ang Nakaraan”, aimed to ensure the cleanliness of the environment by involving the youth in removing the campaign materials of the recently held May elections posted in different areas of several barangays in Antipolo City.

The operation was supported by the City Government of Antipolo through the City Environment and Waste Management Office (CEWMO) as well as the local Barangay of Dalig, Sta. Cruz, San Jose, and San Roque. Different organizations such as the Kiwanis Club Chapters Eastern Antipolo, Morong, and Infinity, Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) Rizal, Sangguniang Kabataan of Dalig, and youth volunteers from several other schools in Antipolo such as St. John’s Wort Montessori School, Nazarene School, San Roque National High School, and Sumulong Memorial High School, and Our Lady of Fatima University.

More than 100 volunteers followed a planned route from the organizers as they walked to remove any campaign materials on the walls, trees, and concrete posts, starting from Barangay San Roque and ending in Barangay Sta. Cruz.

In the interview covered by the People’s Television Network, Ambassador Cornejo stated that the event also aims to encourage the youth to give their all in securing the cleanliness of the communities. A total of 60 kilograms of campaign materials including posters and stickers were collected in the duration of the activity and is subject for proper waste segregation and disposal by the CEWMO of Antipolo.
