Calamba City, Laguna – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON, through its Enforcement Division, spearheaded the 2nd quarter Regional Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force (RAILTF) Meeting last June 2, 2022 at DENR CALABARZON Main Conference Hall, Brgy. Mayapa, Calamaba City, Laguna. It was presided over by the ARD for Special Concerns, Jose Elmer C. Bascos.

The meeting was attended by representatives from all PENROs and the members of the task force composed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of National Defense (DND), Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

RAILTF was created by virtue of EO 23 Declaring a Moratorium on the Cutting and Harvesting of Timber in the Natural and Residual Forests and Creating the Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force.

ARD for Technical Services, Alfredo Palencia stated that one of the objectives of the meeting is to have one direction on the operation and implementation of the task force.

Further, RED Nilo B. Tamoria emphasized that the meeting includes building of structures not only in the regional level but also in the provincial level due to the increasing issues in each province. He also requested for the continued support to the started efforts despite the different mandates of each agency.

Initiatives, accomplishments, and updates on the creation of Provincial Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force were presented by representatives of each PENROs.

Likewise, For. Ingrid De Leon, EMS II of Enforcement Division presented the accomplishments of the existing 5-year Action Plan of the Regional Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force (2018-2022).

ED Chief, Annabelle Barquilla requested other agencies to submit strategic plans in relation to anti-illegal logging and other environmental crimes.

DENR CALABARZON recognizes the support of other agencies and will continue to strengthen the collaboration with other law enforcement agencies toward the enforcement of environmental laws, rules and regulations. ###
